(In English: The World In Your Eyes)
„Two sides of a love story” says the cover. Yes, it tells about a love story. By the boy’s side and by the girl’s side. It’s a typical teen love, but there are definitions about love in the book, which we haven’t seen yet. I will quote these definitions across my opinion.
The story begins by the girl, Constanza’s point of view. We get to know that she is staring at her boyfriend, with whom she argued or broke up. Constanza thinks that Angelo, the boy isn’t sad at all, but angry and he wants to leave the station as soon as he can. The next chapter shows the same, just by the boy’s side. We see that Angelo is really angry at his girlfriend, but truly, deep in his heart he can’t wait for the girl to give a sign that she wants to talk to him. – Stubbornness. It appears in a lot of relationships. Well, if we want to keep love, we have to tell our opinion in the right time and right mood, and we can’t return the stubbornnes with resentment or the same behaviour. It just ruins the relationship. Just like it did to Constanza and Angelo’s love, almost tragically…
„If I would be really in love, I would be happy, I would see pink hearts on the wall of the room and I would bark at the moon. Then what is it? It’s a wild wolf, which runs in my stomach, and devastates my villi, and everything else that moves.” – Constanza. To be honest, I was always thinking about pink hazy love. I had two relationships, that was pinky, they ended soon. Maybe it is the first part of love. At least I read it on a lot of websites. But now… I have to admit, that I didn’t feel the pink love. I felt, what is more, I still feel the weird thing in my stomach, when I see him, but it looks more like Constanza’s feelings. Why? I can’t explain it. I only know, that there is something different in this relationship, it is more real, than the pink love.
„He laughs again, as if the windows of the train would laugh too. A world opens, when he laughs.” – Constanza. It is another form of love: it makes you happy, when your other half is happy.
„When love arrives, it destroys everything. It isn’t a simple storm. It’s a bomb, which makes you deaf, blind, which deletes your sense of time. Everything disappears. The colors, the scents, the flavours. The humans disappear too, and only you stay to pay attention to the nothing. Terrible. The love, which arrives. Beautiful. Everything what was, never existed, and everything that comes, only a dream. The love, which arrives. There isn’t present. Do you understand, teacher, not indicative mood, not conjunctive mood. Maybe just conditional mood. We have to live in our memories, or in the future, waiting for Him, the bomb, which arrives.”- Constanza. People say, love comes unexpectedly. You can’t chase it, you can’t look for it, it will come when it’s time for it to come. I’ve learned it too. And if it arrives, it really destorys everything. Even if it’s not pinky love. It makes you change some kind of way. And even though Constanza describes love as a bomb, it is still the best feeling we can feel. To love, and to be loved.
„Is it love? Is it that simple? Things get to be settled in their place. Like it would be magic. Like a billion pieces of puzzles, which are only a lot of - grey on one side, and colorful on the other side – papers at one moment, unmistakable promise of shapes and colors. And at the other moment it is an enchanted castle in the wood, or a coral reef, full of fish in every colors and shapes. And you wonder about why you haven’t seen that the pieces fit perfectly together before. Why you haven’t seen the finished puzzle game in the paper piles before? And it didn’t need so much work. But why is it so rarely then? At this time the touch, the kiss are the most simple and most natural things in the world. Like the hands would know, where they have to be. Yours and hers too. They don’t need to be guided. If you are in love, the world is in perfect alignment with you. When you sit in the terrace of a bar on a sunny day, which warms you, but not too much, and you see that everything, everything and everything is in the right place: people on the square, clouds above your head, the wind, the cooing birds, the ants carrying crumbs. Even that two porphyry bricks have to be there, and not elsewhere. It is simple. It is complicated. – Angelo. Certainly, that’s love. :) And when time flies, when you get to know more each other, your mistakes, and more and more complications stand in your way, even then everything is in the right place, even when you don’t see it. Everything helps to improve the relationship. Or it simply shows that you two have to be together or not.
In one chapter, a pretty girl from school invites Angelo to her birthday party. Angelo feels, that it wouldn’t be a right thing to go because of Constanza, but his best friend, Roberto says the next thing to him: „ She invited you, and you would be lame if you wouldn’t go. My brother always says, that it is a never-happens-again opportunity.” So, dear best friends, I would like to speak to you first. Do you know what friendship means? To be someone’s best friend? It means, you want the best for your friend. You want to see him happy. You want his life to go well. So, don’t encourage him for anything bad when he loves his girlfriend! A never-happens-again opportunity? Yes, it is. But the girlfriend is too. She isn’t an insensitive object. And if your friend really loves his girlfriend, and because of your encouragement or your help he does something bad, that hurts his relationship, and maybe it ends with break-up, trust me, you would be responsible for it. Is it worth to risk your friendship because of a never-happens-again opportunity? And now I speak to you, boys in love: is it worth to risk your happiness with that girl you love so much because of a never-happens-again opportunity? Because of a thing that only makes you happy for a few hours? You know, these things won’t be there for you in the rest of your life. But your girlfriend will do. So, best friends, and boyfriends in love, think about what you do in a relationship. Because a girlfriend may forgive, but never forget.
Girls, we can’t stay out of it too. We also can do stupid things, mostly when we are upset, broken and sad, right? Constanza gave back the cheating to Angelo. And girls, it is our biggest mistake. The revenge. We want to give back the pain we get from our boyfriends. Of course, after we did it, we immediately feel ashamed of ourselves, and we admit that there was no point in what we did at all. Namely we do much worse with giving back, than the one who hurted us. Then – I say it from experience – not only the disappointment will hurt, but also what we did. The revenge will hurt too. Of course, you try to forget it, you try to get over it, but it will have this subject on your brain, that you aren’t better than the one who hurted you. So, the best thing you can do is that you don’t pay off the hurting. You decide in yourself, if you can or can’t forgive, you can or can’t get over it, and tell your partner calmly. This is love.
I tell you my own opinion about love. Of course, there are a lot of important things in love, but to me, the most important thing is honesty. It doesn’t matter how bad is the thing you want to tell to your love, tell him or her. Don’t be ashamed of asking for advice or help. This is a part of love, to support, help each other. And if we reached honesty, we will build trust slowly. But it won’t build up, if you want to fool your love. Especially not a girl. Because, you know boys, just because a girl don’t tell you everything she knows, trust me, she knows it, and you can’t fool her. The girl, who doesn’t tell you about the informations she knows, she thinks about what she should do. Wait for you to tell her? Or ask for advice? Don’t try to betray the girl. Because if you want to fool her not only one time, if you lie to her, she will get tired of it. And if she gets tired of it, there is no turning back. So I’m asking again: is it worth to risk your happiness? Your relationship? It has to be answered only by you. And if the answer is yes, then leave that girl to find the happiness she deserves!
All in all, I would like to recommend this book for those, who wants to see what love means for a girl and for a boy too. I only quoted love quotes from the story, but a lot of important things happen in the book: a pregnant friend, divorce, a sick relative. It is a kind story, full of feelings, a bit confusing,it is written not in an ordinary way, not in an ordinary train of thought. :)
